Nylon
A minor but important fiber in carpets is the oldest carpet fiber, wool. Wool is beautiful, expensive and must
be maintained properly and carefully.

When cleaning wool carpet, extreme care should be taken to avoid over-wetting and high alkaline cleaners.
Improper chemicals on wool carpet cause "alkaline browning discoloration." Browning is an easily remedied
condition when a "brown out" treatment is applied to the carpet. Over-wetting a wool carpet can cause jute
bleeding discoloration from backing yarns used in carpet weaving processes

Modern carpeting

Carpeting is an attached floor covering made of a heavy, thick fabric, usually woven or felted, often wool,
but also cotton, hemp, straw, or a synthetic counterpart. Polypropylene is a very common pile yarn. It is
typically knotted or glued to a base. It is made to be cut, seamed with a seaming iron,  seam taped and
affixed to a floor over a cushioned pad using nails, tack strips or adhesives when used on stairs. Carpeting
which covers an entire room area is loosely referred to as wall-to-wall, but carpet can be installed over any
portion with appropriate molding where the carpet meets other types of floor coverings. Carpeting is more
than just a single item; it is, in fact, a system comprising the carpet itself, the cushion, and a method of
installation. 'Carpet tiles' are squares of carpet, that can be used to cover a floor. They are usually only used
in commercial settings and often are not affixed to a floor.

Types of carpeting
Polyester
The largest selling type of commercial carpet consists of nylon pile.  Nylon carpet has developed and improved
over the years. Each succeeding breakthrough in nylon carpet manufacturing is called a "generation."

Points to be considered For Proper installation of you Carpet
For stretch-in installation, the use of a power stretcher is mandatory

Seams are away from areas subject to pivoting traffic.

A properly constructed seam may not be invisible, but should have these properties:

Has cleanly trimmed edges properly secured with appropriate adhesive prior to seaming

Maintains uniform appearance on the surface of the Carpet

Floor must be clean, dry, and free from contaminates that may interfere

Wood - must be structurally sound with adequate underneath ventilation
Being a carpet cleaner and repairer I wish to share with you some of what I see when I come to a house. Some installers
are working either for their benefit or the benefit of someone other than the home owner.

Many homes are being built today hiring someone and telling them how much they will pay. So shortcuts may be taken. A
problem is created here that can bring you great problems down the line.  Call me and I can recommend people that will
work for you and follow these guidelines.
Following a few guidelines can save you problems . Carpet and related materials should be stored in a heated, dry space.
Carpet that has been stored in a cold or humid warehouse may when installed  cause bubbles and wrinkles in your Carpet
later on. The best time to install Carpet might be in the late spring.
